Augusta Fiberglass Coatings to Expand at Barnwell County Site
Augusta Fiberglass Coatings Inc. announced Wednesday an expansion that will add 12,000 square feet and a dozen new workers to its 230-employee operation in Barnwell County.
The $625,000 investment into its Blackville, S.C., facility, where it makes custom glass fiber tanks, ducts, scrubbers, stack liners and other equipment from resin and glass fiber fabric, will help it accommodate growth.
“We are delighted to be able to expand our operations in South Carolina to better serve our customers while investing in the local community where our business was founded,” company President John W. Boyd said in a statement.
The company, which operates more than 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space on 300 acres, specializes in custom resin and catalyst formulations that produce fire-retardant and chemical-resistant retardant glass fiber-reinforced plastic equipment.
“Augusta Fiberglass has been providing good jobs in our area for more than 40 years, and we appreciate the additional investment and job creation in our region from this innovative company,” said Buddy Phillips, chairman of the SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance.
