Polysilicon project with a total investment of 22.8 billion RMB starts production in China
According to Hubei Daily, in February 2022, in Wuhan East Lake Comprehensive Protection Zone, Hubei province held a quarterly major project construction activity. At the Xiangyang branch, Geely Technology's "Silicon Valley" project, with a total investment of 22.8 billion yuan and a phase I investment of 5 billion yuan, started construction, mainly engaged in the research and development and production of solar energy and polysilicon.
According to the information shown, Geely Silicon Valley project was briefly introduced: Founded in 1986, Geely has always focused on industry, technological innovation and talent training. Now its assets are worth over 400 billion RMB and it has been in the top 500 companies in the world for 10 consecutive years.
In the energy technology segment, Geely has created a new business model of "source, network, storage and load" integration based on its self-developed advanced technology products. This model is based on the core of high-purity polysilicon refining, and has the world's leading "physical metallurgy" core technology patent. After the application of this technology, a "green silicon material industry chain" can be formed covering industrial silicon, polysilicon, crystal pulling, slicing and PV module manufacturing.
The total investment of the polysilicon project is 5 billion RMB, mainly for plant construction, equipment procurement, etc. Upon completion of the project, Geely Silicon Valley will have a complete 6N solar grade polysilicon manufacturing capacity with excellent performance and a production scale of 50,000 tons/year.
On May 21, 2022, Geely Silicon Valley polysilicon project was officially put into operation in Gucheng County. This marks Geely Silicon Valley's solar-grade polysilicon stepping into the batch production stage.
