China is the largest producer of sweeteners. According to data from China, the global sweetener market output is about 162,400 tons, of which China's sweetener output is about 112,400 tons. China's sweetener output accounts for 75% of global sweetener output, making it the largest sweetener producer. The global sweetener market size is about 9.546 billion yuan, and the Chinese sweetener market size is about 6.661 billion yuan, with output value accounting for about 70% of the world.

Food and beverage are the main application areas, and the overall stable operation

The main downstream applications of sweeteners include beverages and baked goods. Among them, beverages account for 50%, which is the largest application of sweeteners. The beverage manufacturing industry saw a slight decline in operating income and its profit maintained steady growth. In 2017, China's beverage manufacturing industry realized operating income of 1,799.6 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 7.8% year-on-year, and realized a total profit of 2007 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% year-on-year. Overall, in recent years, the revenue and profit of China's beverage manufacturing industry have remained stable.

Both the operating income and profit of the food manufacturing industry have declined, but they are operating steadily. In 2018, China's food manufacturing industry realized operating income of 1,377.5 billion yuan, a 20% decrease from 2017, and realized profits of 155.2 billion yuan, a 16% decrease from 2017. In 2017-2018, due to the impact of the downturn in the macro economy, the operating income and profits of the food manufacturing industry fell slightly compared to 2011-2016, but food was a just-needed product and overall demand remained stable.
