Premature ejaculation is the most common male sexual dysfunction, with an incidence rate of about 14% to 41% in adult men. There are many different definitions of premature ejaculation. It is generally believed that premature ejaculation always or almost always occurs before vaginal penetration or within 1 minute of vaginal penetration, with complete or almost complete lack of ability to control ejaculation, and causes its own adverse consequences, such as distress, anxiety, frustration and/or avoidance of sexual intimacy. The International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) divides premature ejaculation into primary and secondary types. Because the psychophysiology of ejaculation and the pathogenesis of premature ejaculation have not been fully elucidated, there is still no very effective treatment.
