Epilepsy, commonly known as "epilepsy" or "epilepsy", is a disease caused by paroxysmal abnormal discharges of brain neuron groups due to various reasons, resulting in paroxysmal movement, sensation, consciousness, mental and autonomic nervous system dysfunction. According to the latest epidemiological data in China, the overall prevalence of epilepsy in China is 7.0‰, the annual incidence is 28.8/100,000, and the prevalence of active epilepsy with seizures within 1 year is 4.6‰. According to the clinical seizure type, it is divided into: generalized tonic-clonic seizures of epilepsy, absence seizures of epilepsy, simple partial seizures of epilepsy, complex partial seizures of epilepsy, and autonomic nervous system seizures of epilepsy. Different types of epilepsy: primary epilepsy, secondary epilepsy, symptomatic epilepsy syndrome, idiopathic epilepsy syndrome, mental disorders associated with epilepsy, status epilepticus, traumatic epilepsy, refractory epilepsy, frontal lobe epilepsy, temporal lobe epilepsy, parietal lobe epilepsy, occipital lobe epilepsy, and primary reading epilepsy. Epilepsy in different populations: pregnancy complicated with epilepsy, early infantile epileptic encephalopathy, pediatric epilepsy, and senile epilepsy.
