Thoracic aortic dissecting aneurysm
Aortic blood flows into the aortic wall through the intimal tear, forming a hematoma in the aortic wall. When the hematoma expands, the middle layer of the aortic wall is separated into two layers, the inner and outer layers, which is called aortic dissecting aneurysm. Sennertus described this disease in 1542 and Morgagni in 1761. Laennec called it dissecting aneurysm in 1826. The incidence of aortic dissecting aneurysm is about 5 to 10 cases per million people per year. The ratio of men to women is about 3:1, and most of the patients are over 40 years old.
