Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection in children
Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection refers to abnormal drainage of one or several (but not all) of the four pulmonary veins, which are directly or indirectly connected to the right atrium. Under normal circumstances, the pulmonary veins are connected to the left atrium. In children, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection means that all pulmonary veins enter the right atrium directly or indirectly through the systemic veins. This situation has a poor prognosis. If surgical treatment is not taken, 75% of children die within 1 year old.
