Hematoma is a mass composed of blood or blood products, and some authors call it hematic-cyst. There are different interpretations of the meanings of hematoma and hematic cyst (hematic cyst, blood cyst, hematocele) in the literature. It is generally believed that the local accumulation of blood after orbital hemorrhage is called hematoma; the long-term retention of hematoma surrounded by surrounding connective tissue is called hematocyst. The fibrous capsule lacks epithelial or endothelial cell lining. Only hematomas lined with endothelial or epithelial cells are called hematocysts, so only bleeding in venous vascular malformations, cavernous hemangiomas, lymphangiomas and dermoid cysts can form hematocysts. In the orbital area, this kind of blood accumulation can be under the periosteum or in the orbital area. In some cases, the accumulation of intraorbital bleeding can produce effects similar to true tumors.
