Aseptic meningitis syndrome (AMS), also known as serous meningitis, refers to a common clinical syndrome with symptoms of meningeal irritation and mild or moderate pleocytosis of cerebrospinal fluid cells, but no bacteria can be found in the cerebrospinal fluid.
