Eosinophilic gastroenteritis
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a gastrointestinal disease characterized by increased peripheral blood eosinophils. The stomach and small intestine have varying degrees of eosinophil infiltration. The cause is unclear and is related to allergic reactions and immune dysfunction. Clinical manifestations include crampy pain in the upper abdomen, which may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, fever, or a history of specific food allergies. It responds well to glucocorticoid treatment and is more common in young adults than in children.
