This product is a synthetic antibacterial drug with bactericidal effect, which is only effective against mycobacteria (mainly bacteria in the growth and reproduction period). It may inhibit the synthesis of mycolic acid of sensitive bacteria and cause cell wall rupture.

This product is a non-specific drug for the cell cycle. It is most sensitive to cells at the G2-S boundary or early S phase, and also has an inhibitory effect on the G2 phase. After the molecular breakage, the chloroethylamine part plays an alkylation role, causing DNA chain breakage, RNA and protein to be alkylated; the carbamoyl part plays a carbamoylation role, reacting with the terminal amino group of lysine in the protein, destroying the enzyme protein, making it more difficult to repair DNA after being damaged by alkylation, which helps the anti-cancer effect. Although this product has the effect of an alkylating agent, it has no cross-resistance with general alkylating agents, nor with vincristine, methyl procarbazine and antimetabolites.
