This product is an intermediate in the synthesis of Schisandrae Chinensis A, which can reduce liver damage and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) elevation caused by carbon tetrachloride; it has an inhibitory effect on liver microsomal lipid peroxidation caused by carbon tetrachloride and the conversion of carbon tetrachloride into carbon monoxide, and reduces the consumption of reduced coenzyme II and oxygen in the process of carbon tetrachloride metabolism, thereby protecting the structure and function of liver cell biomembrane; it can reduce the increase of liver ALT induced by prednisone and promote liver regeneration in mice with partial hepatectomy; it has a significant induction effect on cytochrome P450 enzyme activity, thereby enhancing the detoxification ability of carbon tetrachloride and certain carcinogens; it has an effect on improving protein metabolism in some hepatitis patients, increasing albumin and reducing globulin. It has no negative conversion effect on HbsAg and HbeAg, and cannot shrink the enlarged liver and spleen.

This product is a synthetic antibacterial drug with bactericidal effect, which is only effective against mycobacteria, mainly bacteria in the growth and reproduction period. Its mechanism of action may be to inhibit the synthesis of mycolic acid (mycolicacid) of sensitive bacteria and cause cell wall rupture.

| Metronidazole |
This product is a nitroimidazole derivative that can inhibit the redox reaction of amoeba and break the nitrogen chain of the protozoa. In vitro tests have shown that when the drug concentration is 1~2mg/L, the histolytica amoeba can undergo morphological changes in 6~20 hours and all are killed within 24 hours. When the concentration is 0.2mg/L, the histolytica amoeba can be killed within 72 hours. This product has a strong effect of killing trichomonas, and its mechanism is unknown. Metronidazole has a killing effect on anaerobic microorganisms, and the metabolites generated when it is reduced in the human body also have anti-anaerobic effects, inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid, thereby interfering with the growth and reproduction of bacteria, and ultimately causing bacterial death. It has a carcinogenic effect on some animals.

| Chloramphenicol |
It has a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect in vitro, including aerobic Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, anaerobes, Rickettsia, spirochetes and Chlamydia. It has a bactericidal effect on influenza bacilli, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis; it only has an antibacterial effect on anaerobic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus viridans, group B hemolytic Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, Shigella, Bacteroides fragilis, etc. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter, Enterobacter, Serratia marcescens, indole-positive Proteus, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus and Enterococcus are usually resistant to chloramphenicol. Chloramphenicol is fat-soluble, enters the bacterial cell by diffusion, and reversibly binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, inhibiting the formation of peptide chains, thereby preventing protein synthesis.
