This product is a first-generation cephalosporin for injection. Its antibacterial effect on positive cocci exceeds that of the second and third generations. Its effect on negative bacilli ranks first among the first-generation cephalosporins, but is not as good as the second generation, let alone the third generation. It has no antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter and anaerobic Bacteroides fragilis. Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of cephalexin, and it has antibacterial effects on Staphylococci (including enzyme-producing strains), Streptococci (except Enterococci), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella, Haemophilus influenzae and Enterobacter aerogenes.
