| Cyclosporin A |
Cyclosporine is a potent immunosuppressant that acts reversibly and specifically on lymphocytes, prolongs the survival time of allogeneic organ transplants, inhibits cell-mediated immune responses, inhibits the synthesis and release of lymphokines (including IL-2), and blocks the G0 phase and early G1 phase of the lymphocyte growth cycle. It does not inhibit erythropoiesis and does not affect phagocyte function. Patients using this product have a lower incidence of infection than those using other immunosuppressants.

It binds to FKBP12 and accumulates in cells, inhibiting calcinurin and calcium-dependent signal transduction pathways in T cells, preventing lymphokine gene transcription; inhibiting T cell activation, T helper cell-dependent B cell proliferation, inhibiting the production of multiple lymphokines and interleukin-2 receptor expression; it is effective in liver and kidney transplantation in vivo.
