Vitamin E Nicotinate Capsules

Function and Efficacy

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can combine with selenium in the diet to prevent polyvalent unsaturated fatty acids in membranes and other cell structures from free radical damage, protect red blood cells from hemolysis, protect nerves and muscles from oxygen free radical damage, maintain the normal development and function of nerves and muscles, and may also be a cofactor for certain enzyme systems. Niacin is converted into nicotinamide in the body, and then combined with riboadenine to form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (coenzyme I) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (coenzyme II), which are essential for lipid amino acid, protein, purine metabolism, tissue respiration oxidation and glycogenolysis. Niacin can reduce the utilization of coenzyme A and affect the transportation of cholesterol in the blood by inhibiting the synthesis of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL).

Drug Interactions

1 Large amounts of aluminum hydroxide can precipitate bile acid in the upper small intestine and reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamin E. 2. Avoid using coumarin and its derivatives with large amounts of vitamin E to prevent the occurrence of hypoprothrombinemia. 3 Lipid-lowering drugs such as cholestyramine and colestipol, mineral oil and sucralfate can interfere with the absorption of vitamin E. 4 The need for vitamin E increases when iron is supplemented for iron-deficiency anemia. 5 Vitamin E can promote the absorption of vitamin A, increase the storage and utilization of vitamin A in the liver, and reduce the occurrence of vitamin A poisoning; but when exceeded, it can reduce the storage of vitamin A in the body. 6 Isoniazid can prevent niacin from binding to coenzyme I, resulting in a decrease in niacin. 7 When niacin is used in combination with adrenergic receptor blocking antihypertensive drugs such as guanethidine, its vasodilatory effect is synergistically enhanced, and direct hypotension can occur.
