Function and Efficacy

This drug is a precursor of acyclovir. It is hydrolyzed into acyclovir in the body and inhibits viruses. It has a strong inhibitory effect on herpes simplex virus I (HSV-I) and herpes simplex virus II (HSV-II), but a weak inhibitory effect on varicella virus, Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. Its mechanism of action is to limit the synthesis of viral DNA and inhibit its replication.

Appearance

This product is a film-coated tablet, which appears white or off-white after removing the film coating.

Indication

It is used to treat varicella zoster and herpes simplex virus infections of type I and type II, including primary and recurrent genital herpes virus infections. This product can be used for all indications of acyclovir.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration, 0.3g at a time, twice a day, before meals on an empty stomach. For herpes zoster, take the medicine for 10 consecutive days. For herpes simplex, take the medicine for 7 consecutive days.

Adverse Reactions

Use with caution in patients with renal insufficiency, children and breastfeeding women. The safety and efficacy data of this drug for children under two years old have not yet been established. Drink plenty of water during medication. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to acyclovir.

Drug Interactions

1. Combination with zidovudine can cause nephrotoxicity, manifested as deep lethargy and fatigue. 2. Competitive inhibition of organic acid secretion with probenecid. Combination with probenecid can slow down the excretion of acyclovir, prolong the half-life, and cause drug accumulation in the body.
