Flumazenil Injection

Flumazenil is a benzodiazepine receptor antagonist that competitively inhibits the reaction of benzodiazepines with their receptors, thereby specifically blocking their central nervous system effects.

Active ingredient: Flumazenil; Excipients: Disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate, acetic acid, sodium chloride, water for injection. The chemical name of Flumazenil is 8-fluoro-5,6-dihydro-5-methyl-6-oxo-4H-imidazo-[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester.

This product is a colorless clear liquid.

It can be used clinically for benzodiazepine overdose or poisoning and epileptic seizures after anesthesia.

Intravenous injection: 0.3mg ~ 0.6mg each time.

1. A small number of patients may experience facial flushing, nausea and/or vomiting when taking the drug during anesthesia. After a rapid injection of flumazenil, there may occasionally be discomfort such as anxiety, palpitations, fear, etc. These side effects usually do not require special treatment. 2. In people with a history of epilepsy or severe liver dysfunction, especially in those with a history of long-term use of benzodiazepines or in cases of mixed drug overdose, there have been reports of epileptic seizures with the use of this drug. 3. In the case of mixed drug overdose, especially overdose of cyclic antidepressants, the use of this product to reverse the effects of benzodiazepines may cause adverse reactions (such as convulsions and arrhythmias). 4. Precautions for children: The safety and effectiveness of the drug for children has not yet been established. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: It is not clear yet. This product should not be used within 3 months of the first trimester of pregnancy. This product should be used with caution by lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: There are no special contraindications.

Flumazenil blocks the effects of non-benzodiazepine drugs such as zopiclone and triazolopyridazines that act via benzodiazepine receptors. The pharmacokinetics of benzodiazepine receptor agonists are not affected by flumazenil, and vice versa. Alcohol does not interact with flumazenil.
