Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium capsules (4:1)

This product is composed of amoxicillin trihydrate and potassium clavulanate. Amoxicillin is a bactericidal broad-spectrum antibiotic, and potassium clavulanate is an irreversible broad-spectrum β-lactamase inhibitor, which can effectively inhibit β-lactamase produced by drug-resistant bacteria. Clinically, many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria produce β-lactamase. This enzyme can make amoxicillin lose its antibacterial activity. Due to the presence of clavulanic acid, amoxicillin can be protected from the destruction of β-lactamase, so that β-lactamase-producing bacteria that are resistant to amoxicillin are still sensitive to amoxicillin. This product is a bactericidal antibiotic that can kill a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in clinical practice; especially for resistant bacteria that produce β-lactamase, this product has a special therapeutic effect. These bacteria include: Aerobic bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Listeria monocytogenes, Streptococcus pyogenes, Corynebacterium, Streptococcus viridans, Pneumococcus. Anaerobic bacteria: Clostridium, Peptostreptococcus, Peptococcus. Aerobic bacteria: Escherichia coli, Brucella, Proteus vulgaris, Neisseria meningitidis, Proteus mirabilis, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Salmonella, Haemophilus ducreyi, Shigella, Branhamella, Pertussis, Pasteurella multocida. Anaerobic bacteria: Bacteroides including Bacteroides fragilis.

Oral. Adults and children over 12 years old, 2 capsules at a time, 3 times a day. In severe infection, the dose can be doubled or as directed by the doctor. If the patient is not re-examined, the continuous treatment period shall not exceed 14 days.

1. A small number of patients may experience mild intestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If these side effects occur, they can be restored to normal by taking the medicine at the beginning of a meal. 2. Urticaria and morbilliform rash may occasionally occur. If urticaria and severe morbilliform rash occur, the use of this product should be stopped. 3. Temporary liver function abnormalities may be seen in a very small number of patients.

It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to cephalosporins or have a history of anaphylactic shock or immediate reaction to penicillin.

Chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracyclines, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and sulfonamides should not be used in combination with this product.
