Fluconazole eye drops

Function and Efficacy

It has antifungal effect and can also have bactericidal effect at high concentrations. It mainly interferes with the activity of cytochrome P-450, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, the main steroid in the fungal cell membrane, damaging the fungal cell membrane and changing its permeability, resulting in leakage of important intracellular substances; fluconazole can also inhibit the biosynthesis of triglycerides and phospholipids of fungi, inhibit the activity of oxidases and peroxidases, cause the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in cells, and lead to deformation of cell submicrostructures and cell necrosis. For Candida albicans, it can inhibit the process of its transformation from spores to invasive hyphae. It is sensitive to Candida, Cryptococcus, Coccidioides, Histoplasma, etc.

Drug Interactions

1. When isoniazid or rifampicin is used together with fluconazole, the concentration of fluconazole can be reduced, which may lead to treatment failure or recurrence of infection. Therefore, the above drugs should be used with caution. 2. When tolbutamide, chlorbutamide and glipizide are used together with fluconazole, the blood concentration of these hypoglycemic drugs increases, which may cause hypoglycemia. Therefore, blood sugar should be monitored and the dose of sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drugs should be reduced. 3. When high-dose fluconazole is used together with cyclosporine, the blood concentration of cyclosporine may increase, which may cause the risk of toxic reactions. The risk of adverse reactions increases, so it must be used with caution when the blood concentration of cyclosporine is monitored and the dosage is adjusted; 4. Hydrochlorothiazide can increase the blood concentration of fluconazole, which may be related to the fact that hydrochlorothiazide reduces the renal clearance of fluconazole; 5. When theophylline is used together with fluconazole, the blood concentration increases by about 13%, which may lead to toxic reactions. The blood concentration of theophylline should be monitored; 6. When warfarin is used together with fluconazole, its anticoagulant effect can be enhanced, resulting in a prolonged prothrombin time. The prothrombin time should be monitored and the drug should be used with caution.
