Reserpine Tablets

Function and Efficacy

1Reserpine is an adrenergic neuron blocking antihypertensive drug. 2This product achieves its antihypertensive, heart rate slowing and central nervous system inhibition effects by depleting adrenaline in peripheral sympathetic nerve endings, catecholamines and 5-hydroxytryptamine in the heart, brain and other tissues. The antihypertensive effect is mainly achieved by reducing cardiac output, reducing peripheral resistance, and partially inhibiting cardiovascular reflexes. The effect of slowing the heart rate is not obvious in people with normal heart rate, but it is obvious in people with sinus tachycardia. 3Reserpine acts on the hypothalamus to produce a sedative effect, but does not cause drowsiness or anesthetic effects, does not change the electroencephalogram during sleep, and can relieve anxiety, tension and headaches in hypertensive patients. 4The experimental animals were given

Children are given 0.005-0.02 mg/kg of body weight or 0.15-0.6 mg/m2 of body surface area per day, orally in 1-2 doses.

Adverse Reactions

1. Adverse reactions that are prone to occur when taken orally in large quantities include excessive sedation, inattention, depression that may lead to suicide, and slow reaction that may occur several months after stopping the drug; drowsiness, syncope, paranoid anxiety, insomnia, dreaming, talking in sleep, headache, nervousness, Parkinson's disease (reversible after stopping the drug), fatigue, weakness, impotence, loss of libido, dysuria, breast congestion, non-puerperal lactation; 2. Reserpine can be secreted through breast milk. Precautions for the elderly: Use with caution in reduced doses according to circumstances.

Drug Interactions

When used in combination with ethanol or CNS depressants, the central nervous system inhibitory effect may be aggravated; 1 When used in combination with other antihypertensive drugs or diuretics, the antihypertensive effect may be enhanced, and dosage adjustment is required; when used in combination with beta-blockers, the latter's effect may be enhanced; 2 When used in combination with digitalis or quinidine, large doses may cause arrhythmias; 3 When used in combination with levodopa, dopamine may be depleted, leading to Parkinson's disease; 4 When used in combination with indirect adrenergic drugs such as ephedrine and amphetamine, catecholamine storage may be depleted, inhibiting the effect of adrenergic drugs; 5 When used in combination with direct adrenergic drugs such as epinephrine, isoproterenol, norepinephrine, metaraminol, and phenylephrine,
