Indication

Used to treat high blood pressure.

Usage and Dosage

The usual adult dose is oral, starting with 10 mg once a day, which can be adjusted to 10 mg each time, 2 to 3 times a day depending on the response.

Adverse Reactions

1. Less common reactions include: headache, flushing. 2. Less common reactions include: dizziness, nausea, hypotension, swollen feet, angina attacks. The above reactions are mostly the result of vasodilation. When lowering blood pressure, there may be reflex tachycardia, which can induce angina. Most adverse reactions are mild and do not affect treatment.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients with allergic reaction to this product and severe aortic valve stenosis.

Precautions for children: This test has not been conducted and there are no reliable references. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: The research on the use of this product in pregnant women is not sufficient, but the existing clinical application has not caused any problems. Precautions for the elderly: The blood concentration of the drug is higher in the elderly, but the half-life is not prolonged, so the dose should be appropriately reduced; those who are taking beta-blockers should be cautious when adding this product. It is advisable to start with a small dose when combined with other drugs to prevent inducing or aggravating systemic hypotension, increasing the incidence of angina pectoris, heart failure, and even myocardial infarction. The recommended initial dose for elderly patients is 10 mg per day.

Drug Interactions

1. When used in combination with other calcium ion antagonists that act on the cardiovascular system, it can increase the effectiveness of other calcium ion antagonists. 2. When nimodipine 90 mg/day is used in combination with cimetidine 1000 mg/day for more than one week, the blood concentration of nimodipine can increase by 50%, which may be related to the fact that cimetidine inhibits cytochrome P450 in the liver and blocks the metabolism of nimodipine.
