Tegafur Suppository
Function and Efficacy
This product is a derivative of fluorouracil. It is activated by the liver in the body and gradually converted into fluorouracil to play an anti-tumor role. It can interfere with and interrupt DNA, RNA and protein synthesis, and mainly acts on the S phase. It is a cell cycle-specific drug of the anti-pyrimidine class. Its mechanism of action, efficacy and anti-tumor spectrum are similar to those of fluorouracil, but it has a long-lasting effect, good absorption and low toxicity. The chemotherapy index is twice that of fluorouracil, and the toxicity is only 1/4~1/7 of that of fluorouracil. No severe bone marrow suppression was observed in the chronic toxicity experiment, and the effect on immunity was relatively mild.

Appearance
This product is an off-white or slightly yellow suppository.
Indication
Anti-tumor drug used for digestive tract tumors, breast cancer, bronchial lung cancer and liver cancer, etc.
Usage and Dosage
For rectal administration: 500 mg (1 tablet) at a time, 1 to 2 times a day.
Adverse Reactions
Bone marrow suppression reaction is mild, with a decrease in white blood cells and platelets. Neurotoxic reactions include headache, dizziness, ataxia, mental status changes, etc. A few patients have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and changes in liver and kidney function. Fever, skin itching, and pigmentation are occasionally seen.
