Function and Efficacy
The main ingredients of Ticarcillin Sodium Clavulanate Potassium for Injection are Ticarcillin Sodium and Clavulanate Potassium. Ticarcillin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal agent of the penicillin class, while clavulanic acid is an irreversible and highly effective beta-lactamase inhibitor. Many Gram-positive bacteria (G) and Gram-negative bacteria (G-) can produce beta-lactamase, which can destroy penicillins before they act on pathogens. Clavulanic acid destroys the bacterial defense barrier by blocking beta-lactamase and restores ticarcillin sensitivity. Potassium clavulanate has little antibacterial effect alone, but when combined with ticarcillin, it becomes an antibiotic with a broad-spectrum bactericidal effect, suitable for empirical treatment of a wide range of bacterial infectious diseases. This product is an antibiotic with a broad-spectrum bactericidal effect, and its in vitro antibacterial spectrum is: Gram-positive aerobic bacteria: Staphylococcus (including Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis), Streptococcus (including fecal streptococcus). Anaerobic bacteria: Peptococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Clostridium, Eubacterium. Gram-negative aerobic bacteria: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus (including Haemophilus influenzae), Branhamella catarrhalis, Klebsiella (including Klebsiella pneumoniae), Enterobacter, Proteus (including indole-positive bacteria), Providencia stutzeri, Pseudomonas (including Pseudomonas aeruginosa), Serratia (including Serratia marcescens), Citrobacter, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Narsella enterocolitica. Anaerobic bacteria: Bacteroides (including Bacteroides fragilis), Fusobacterium, Veillonella. Animal experiments show no teratogenic effect

Indication
This product is suitable for the treatment of various bacterial infections, and its scope of action is wide. The main indications are as follows: severe infections: sepsis, bacteremia, peritonitis, intra-abdominal sepsis, infections in special populations (secondary to immune system suppression or damage), postoperative infections, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections, severe or complicated urinary tract infections (such as pyelonephritis), and ear, nose and throat infections. This product has a synergistic effect when used in combination with aminoglycoside antibiotics to treat a variety of infections (including Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections), especially in the treatment of critical infections and infections in patients with weakened immune systems. When this product is used in combination with aminoglycoside antibiotics, the two drugs should be administered separately.
Usage and Dosage
Dosage: Adults (including the elderly): Common dose: 1.6g to 3.2g every 6 to 8 hours, depending on body weight. Maximum dose: 3.2g every 4 hours. Recommended dose for patients with renal insufficiency: 3.2g every 8 hours for mild insufficiency (creatinine clearance 30ml/min) 1.6g every 8 hours for moderate insufficiency (creatinine clearance 10-30ml/min) 1.6g every 12 hours for severe insufficiency (creatinine clearance 10ml/min) Children: Common dose: 80mg/kg body weight each time, administered once every 6 to 8 hours. Dosage for neonates: 80mg/kg body weight each time, administered once every 12 hours, and then increased to once every 8 hours. Dosage for children with renal insufficiency: must be adjusted according to the recommended dose for adult patients with renal insufficiency. Usage: This product can be administered intermittently through intravenous drip; this product is not for intramuscular injection. When using, dissolve 1.6g of this product in 10ml of sterile water for injection or 5% glucose injection, then transfer to a transfer container and dilute to the corresponding volume of solution before use.
Adverse Reactions
1 Allergic reaction: If an allergic reaction occurs, the drug should be stopped immediately. Rash, herpes, urticaria and other allergic reactions may occur. 2 Gastrointestinal reactions: Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, rarely pseudomembranous colitis. 3 Changes in liver function: Increased AST and/or ALT, with individual reports of hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice. The above changes may also occur with the use of other penicillins and cephalosporin antibiotics. 4 Changes in renal function: Rare hypokalemia. 5 Central nervous system reactions: Rare convulsions, mainly occurring in patients with renal insufficiency or high-dose use of this product. 6 Changes in the blood system: Thrombocytopenia, leukopenia and bleeding. 7 Local reactions: Thrombophlebitis at the intravenous injection site.
Precautions
Patients who are allergic to beta-lactam antibiotics (such as penicillin and cephalosporin) are contraindicated to use this product. Before using this product for treatment, a beta-lactam sensitivity test (such as penicillin and cephalosporin) is required.
Drug Interactions
Probenecid can reduce the renal tubular secretion of ticarcillin, thereby delaying the renal excretion of ticarcillin, but does not affect the renal excretion of clavulanic acid.
