This product is not absorbed after oral administration, and forms a hypertonic solution in the intestine, which prevents the intestine from absorbing water and retains the water in the colon cavity. It can soften the feces through local osmotic action, increase the volume and weight of the feces to normal, and then produce smooth defecation. Patients usually restore normal defecation frequency within 24 to 48 hours after taking the medicine, and gradually establish a defecation pattern close to nature and normal. This product is not absorbed after oral administration and has very low toxicity. Literature reports that the LD50 of this product for oral administration in mice is 50g/kg. While treating constipation, polyethylene glycol 4000 does not change the physiological environment of the intestine, does not affect the intestinal absorption of water, electrolytes and nutrients, does not affect the normal intestinal flora, does not produce gas after taking it, and does not affect the heart, liver, and kidney functions. Therefore, it can be prescribed to special and high-risk groups, such as pregnant women, the elderly, diabetics, patients with hypertension and poor heart function, etc.

Symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults.

Oral administration: Dissolve the powder in a large glass of water. Take 1 to 2 bags per day.

If the dosage of this product is too large, diarrhea or mild discomfort may occur, which can be relieved after 24 to 48 hours after stopping the drug, but the dosage can be reduced to continue treatment. Symptoms of abdominal pain (stomach pain) may also occur during medication.
