Anti-rabies serum
Function and Efficacy
After being injected into the body, this product can neutralize the invading rabies virus and provide passive immunity in a timely and rapid manner, thereby achieving the purpose of preventing the disease.
Ingredients
This product is an immunoglobulin obtained by digesting the serum of horses immunized with rabies virus with gastric enzymes and then using the ammonium sulfate salting-out method.
Indication
Used in conjunction with rabies vaccine to prevent severe bites by rabid animals, such as head, face, neck or multiple bites. The earlier the injection after being bitten by a rabid animal, the better. Injection within 48 hours after the bite can reduce the incidence rate. Injection of this product is ineffective for patients with rabies symptoms.
Usage and Dosage
Usage: The injured part should be treated first. If the wound has been treated with other chemicals, it should be rinsed clean. First, perform infiltration injection on the injured part, and the remaining serum should be injected intramuscularly. (Head bites can be injected into the neck and back muscles). Dosage: The injection amount is calculated according to body weight, 40 IU per 1 kg of body weight (increased to 80-100 IU if particularly serious), divided into several injections within 1-2 days, and rabies vaccine injections are started after the injections are completed. Rabies vaccine can also be injected at the same time.
Adverse Reactions
1 Anaphylactic shock: It may occur suddenly during or within a few minutes to tens of minutes after the injection. The patient suddenly shows depression or irritability, pale or flushed face, chest tightness or shortness of breath, cold sweat, nausea or abdominal pain, rapid pulse, decreased blood pressure, and in severe cases, coma and collapse. If not rescued in time, death may occur quickly. Mild cases can be relieved after injection of epinephrine; severe cases require infusion of oxygen, use of pressor drugs to maintain blood pressure, and use of anti-allergic drugs and adrenocorticoids for rescue. 2 Serum sickness: The main symptoms are urticaria, fever, swollen lymph nodes, local edema, occasional proteinuria, vomiting, joint pain, erythema, itching and edema at the injection site. Generally, the disease occurs 7 to 14 days after injection, which is called delayed type. It can also occur 2 to 4 days after injection, which is called accelerated type. For serum
