Function and Efficacy
Lamivudine is a nucleoside antiviral drug. It has a strong inhibitory effect on hepatitis B virus (HBV) in vitro and in experimentally infected animals. Lamivudine can be metabolized in HBV-infected cells and normal cells to produce lamivudine triphosphate, which is the active form of lamivudine and is both an inhibitor of HBV polymerase and a substrate of this polymerase. Lamivudine triphosphate penetrates into the viral DNA chain and blocks the synthesis of viral DNA. Lamivudine triphosphate does not interfere with the metabolism of deoxynucleosides in normal cells. It has a weak inhibitory effect on mammalian DNA polymerase α and β and has almost no effect on the DNA content of mammalian cells. Lamivudine has no obvious toxicity to the structure, DNA content and function of mitochondria. The results of serum HBVDNA detection in most hepatitis B patients showed that lamivudine can rapidly inhibit HBV replication, and its inhibitory effect lasts throughout the treatment process, while reducing serum aminotransferase to normal. Long-term use can significantly improve liver necrosis and inflammatory changes, and reduce or prevent the progression of liver fibrosis.

Appearance
This product is a colorless or light yellow clear liquid with a fragrant odor and sweet taste.
Indication
Suitable for chronic hepatitis B with hepatitis B virus replication.
Usage and Dosage
The dosage for adults and young people (12 to 16 years old) is 150 mg twice a day, combined with zidovudine. For adults weighing less than 50 kg, the dosage is 4 mg/kg twice a day (up to the maximum dose of 150 mg, twice a day), also used in combination with zidovudine. The dosage for children should be increased because the average bioavailability of the drug in children is lower. Take this product orally as directed by your doctor, usually 1-2 times a day. It can be taken alone or with food. For best efficacy, it is often taken with zidovudine (AZT), but the instructions for use of zidovudine must be followed.
Adverse Reactions
Common adverse reactions include upper respiratory tract infection-like symptoms, headache, nausea, malaise, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The symptoms are generally mild and can be relieved on their own.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: There is no efficacy and safety data for patients under 16 years old. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Patients within 3 months of pregnancy should not use this product. Patients who are more than 3 months pregnant should weigh the pros and cons of using this product. Breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding when taking this product. Drug Interactions
1. When lamivudine is used simultaneously with drugs with the same excretion mechanism (such as trimethoprim, sulfamethoxazole), the blood concentration of lamivudine can increase by 40%, which has no clinical significance, but patients with renal impairment should pay attention. 2. Combination with zidovudine can increase the latter's peak blood concentration (Cmax), but does not affect the elimination and area under the drug-time curve of both.
