Indication
Used to prevent and treat calcium deficiency diseases such as osteoporosis, tetany, bone dysplasia, rickets, and as calcium supplement for children, pregnant and lactating women, menopausal women, and the elderly.
Usage and Dosage
Chew and swallow. Adults, 1 tablet at a time, 1 to 2 times a day; children, half a tablet at a time, 1 to 2 times a day.
Adverse Reactions
1. Belching and constipation. 2. Milk-alkali syndrome may occur occasionally, manifested as hypercalcemia, alkalosis and renal insufficiency. (Caused by taking milk and calcium carbonate, or calcium carbonate alone). 3. Excessive and long-term use may cause rebound increase in gastric acid secretion and hypercalcemia.
Precautions
It is contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, calcium-containing kidney stones, or a history of kidney stones.

Drug Interactions
1. This product should not be used in combination with digitalis drugs. 2. Drinking large amounts of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages and smoking large amounts of cigarettes will inhibit the absorption of calcium. 3. Eating large amounts of fiber-rich foods can inhibit the absorption of calcium, because calcium combines with cellulose to form compounds that are not easily absorbed. 4. When this product is used together with phenytoin sodium and tetracyclines, the absorption of both is reduced. 5. Vitamin D, contraceptives, and estrogen can increase calcium absorption. 6. When aluminum-containing antacids are taken with this product, aluminum absorption increases. 7. When this product is used in combination with thiazide diuretics, hypercalcemia is likely to occur (due to increased renal tubular calcium reabsorption). 8. When this product is used in combination with potassium-containing drugs, attention should be paid to the occurrence of arrhythmias. 9.
