Azelaic acid cream
Function and Efficacy
Pharmacological action: The exact mechanism of action of this product is not yet clear. In vitro, azelaic acid has antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, and the principle may be to inhibit the protein synthesis of microorganisms. This product can return the keratinization process of the hair follicle infundibulum to normal. After electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry studies on the skin specimens of the subjects, it was also found that after treatment, the skin stratum corneum became thinner, the keratinocyte clear protein particles decreased and became smaller, and the content and distribution of filaggrin (a component of keratinocyte clear protein) in the epidermis decreased. These changes may be related to the drug's inhibition of acne formation. Toxicological studies: Genetic toxicity Ames test, Chinese hamster ovary cell and lymphocyte mutagenesis test, mouse dominant dapoxetine test, genotoxicity test, and toxicity test.
