Function and Efficacy

This product is a macrolide antibiotic produced by Strept-Omyces Mycarofaciens. It works by acting on the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, hindering the synthesis of bacterial proteins, and is a growth-stage antibacterial drug. Its antibacterial properties are similar to those of erythromycin, and it has a strong antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasmas, and also has an antibacterial effect on some Gram-negative bacteria such as Neisseria meningitidis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product is midecamycin. Its chemical name is [4R-(4R*,5S*,6S*,7R*,9R*,10R*,11E,13E,16R*)]-6-{[3,6-dideoxy-4-O-(2,6-dideoxy-3-carbon-methyl-a-L-ribose-hexopyranosyl)-3-(dimethylamino)-b-D-pyranoglucopyranosyl]oxy}-4,10-dihydroxy-5-methoxy-9,16-dimethyl-2-oxohexaane-11,13-diene-7-acetaldehyde 3,4-b-dipropionate.

Appearance

This product is a film-coated tablet, which appears white or off-white after removing the coating.

Indication

It is mainly suitable for respiratory tract infections and skin, soft tissue and bile tract infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, etc., and can also be used for Mycoplasma pneumonia.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration: Adults take 0.2-0.3g (2-3 tablets) at a time, and children take 30-40mg/kg (3/10-2/5 tablets/kg) per day according to body weight, 3-4 times a day.

Adverse Reactions

Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, etc. are occasionally seen. Transient increase in serum alanine aminotransferase is occasionally seen. Rash, urticaria and other symptoms are occasionally seen.

Precautions

Patients who are allergic to this product and macrolide drugs are contraindicated.

Precautions for children: Not yet clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Not yet clear. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly people often have impaired renal function, and the dosage should be reduced according to the degree of renal function impairment.

Drug Interactions

This product can inhibit the normal metabolism of theophylline. When used in combination with theophylline, it can cause an abnormal increase in theophylline blood concentration and lead to poisoning or even death. Therefore, theophylline blood concentration should be monitored when the two drugs are used in combination.
