This product is a nitrofuran antibacterial drug. It has certain antibacterial effects on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Bacteroides, etc. It is also active against Trichomonas and Giardia at a certain concentration. Its mechanism of action is to interfere with bacterial oxidoreductase and thus block the normal metabolism of bacteria.

Appearance

This product is a sugar-coated tablet or a film-coated tablet.

Indication

It is mainly used for bacillary dysentery and enteritis, and can also be used for typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, giardiasis and vaginal trichomoniasis. It has a therapeutic effect on gastritis and gastric and duodenal ulcers, which is believed to be related to its antibacterial effect on Helicobacter pylori (some people also believe that the efficacy of this product on gastric and duodenal ulcers is questionable).

Usage and Dosage

The usual dosage is 0.1g once, 3-4 times a day, and continue to take it for 2 days after the symptoms disappear. The course of treatment for giardiasis is 7-10 days.

Adverse Reactions

The main adverse reactions include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, urticaria, drug fever, asthma, etc. Overdose may also cause mental disorders and multiple neuritis. Drinking alcohol while taking this product may cause disulfiram-like reactions, which manifest as skin flushing, itching, fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, tachycardia, increased blood pressure, chest tightness and irritability, etc. Therefore, drinking alcohol is prohibited during medication.

Precautions for children: Not for use in newborns. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Not for use in pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.

Drug Interactions

1. The combination with tricyclic antidepressants may cause acute toxic psychosis and should be avoided. 2. This product can enhance the effect of levodopa. 3. Sympathomimetic amines, tyramine-rich foods, appetite suppressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, etc. can enhance the effect of this product.
