Amoxicillin Granules

Function and Efficacy

This product is a penicillin antibiotic, which has good antibacterial activity against Streptococcus such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and hemolytic Streptococcus, aerobic Gram-positive cocci such as non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus and Enterococcus faecalis, aerobic Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Helicobacter pylori. Amoxicillin exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which can quickly dissolve and rupture bacteria into spherical bodies.

Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product is amoxicillin, and its chemical name is: (2S,5R,6R)-3,3-dimethyl-6-[(R)-(-)-2-amino-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetylamino]-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid trihydrate.

Appearance

Off-white, light yellow or light orange flowable powder, after adding water and shaking, it becomes a yellow suspension with a special smell.

Indication

1. Otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other upper respiratory tract infections caused by hemolytic streptococci, pneumococcus, staphylococcus or Haemophilus influenzae. 2. Urogenital tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis or Enterococcus faecalis. 3. Skin and soft tissue infections caused by hemolytic streptococci, staphylococcus or Escherichia coli. 4. Acute bronchitis, pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infections caused by hemolytic streptococci, pneumococcus, staphylococcus or Haemophilus influenzae. 5. Acute simple gonorrhea. 6. This product can also be used to treat typhoid fever, typhoid carriers and leptospirosis; amoxicillin can also be used in combination with clarithromycin and lansoprazole to eradicate gastric and duodenal Helicobacter pylori and reduce the recurrence rate of peptic ulcers.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration. Adults take 0.5g once, once every 6 to 8 hours, and the daily dose does not exceed 4g. The daily dose for children is 20 to 40mg/Kg based on body weight, once every 8 hours; the daily dose for infants under 3 months old is 30mg/Kg based on body weight, once every 12 hours. Patients with severe renal impairment need to adjust the dosage, including patients with endogenous creatinine clearance of 10 to 30ml/min, 0.25 to 0.5g every 12 hours; patients with endogenous creatinine clearance less than 10ml/min, 0.25 to 0.5g every 24 hours.

Adverse Reactions

1 Gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. 2 Allergic reactions such as rash, drug fever and asthma. 3 Anemia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, etc. 4 Serum aminotransferase may be slightly elevated. 5 Superinfection caused by Candida or drug-resistant bacteria. 6 Occasionally, central nervous system symptoms such as excitement, anxiety, insomnia, dizziness and abnormal behavior may occur.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with penicillin allergy or penicillin skin test positive.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: This experiment has not been conducted and there are no reliable references. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Animal reproduction studies have shown that amoxicillin at 10 times the human dose did not damage the fertility and fetuses of rats and mice. However, there is a lack of sufficient controlled studies in humans. Given that animal reproduction studies cannot fully predict human reactions, pregnant women should only use this product when it is necessary. Since a small amount of amoxicillin can be secreted in breast milk, it may cause allergies in infants after being taken by nursing mothers. Precautions for the elderly: This experiment has not been conducted and there are no reliable references.

Drug Interactions

1. Probenecid competitively reduces the renal tubular secretion of this product. The simultaneous use of the two can cause an increase in the blood concentration of amoxicillin and a prolonged half-life. 2. Chloramphenicol, macrolides, sulfonamides and tetracyclines interfere with the antibacterial effect of amoxicillin in vitro, but the clinical significance is unclear.

Storage

Protect from light, seal tightly, and store in a cool and dry place.
