  • Description

    Chemical properties:
Light yellow amorphous powder or loose shiny scaly or sponge-like solid, which can turn black when exposed to air. It is odorless and has a strong astringency. Soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, almost insoluble in benzene, chloroform, ether and petroleum ether.

    use:
In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a raw material for preparing gallic acid, pyrogallol, and sulfonamide drugs. Tannin is a hemostatic drug. It has been used in medicine to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, hemorrhoids, and skin herpes. Internal use can prevent diarrhea and intestinal preparation. Tannins can form precipitates with metals, alkaloids, glycosides, etc., and have a detoxifying effect on these substances. Tannin can be used in tanning leather, ink manufacturing, paper and silk sizing, boiler anti-scaling, etc. It can also be used as mordant, beer and wine clarifying agent, rubber coagulant, etc., as well as determination of beryllium, aluminum, nickel, copper and other metals Of reagents. In chemical production, gallic acid and pyrogallic acid can be prepared. Tannin is used as a diluent when dealing with drilling mud. The proportion of tannin powder and caustic soda is made into tannin alkaline solution, which can reduce the shearing force and stickiness of thickened mud and improve mud flow. On the contrary, if the tannin powder is directly added to the mud, due to its weak acidity, the pH of the mud is lowered, and the ion exchange with the clay particles occurs. Reduce the hydration of the surface of the clay particles, so that the network structure of the clay particles is formed, and the shear force and viscosity of the mud are improved. According to China's GB2760-89 regulations, "solidified tannin" can be used for low-grade and fruit wine, as a clarifying agent to remove turbid protein and other suspended substances. It is also used as an astringent and crude oil deodorant in food industry.
