Description
This product widely used in medical,colorant,chemical and organic synthesis industry. Meanwhile,it is also used for metal analysis.
Chemical properties: white or light brown needle crystal or powder. Melting point 235-240°C (decomposition). When heated to 100-120℃, it loses crystal water, and when heated to above 200℃, it loses carbon dioxide and generates pyrogallol (pyrogallol). Soluble in hot water, ether, ethanol, acetone and glycerin, insoluble in cold water, insoluble in benzene and chloroform.
Uses: Gallic acid has many uses in pharmaceuticals, inks, dyes, food, light industry and organic synthesis. Gallic acid and ferric iron ions form a blue-black precipitate, which is the raw material of blue-black ink; it is also used in industry for tanning; it can also be used as a photographic developer. Propyl gallate is an antioxidant and can be used in edible oils and fats to prevent spoilage and deterioration. In medicine, gallic acid is a hemostatic astringent and a mild local irritant.
