Sodium Benzoate (E211) is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. It is a widely used preservative with excellent water solubility, making it convenient for liquid food formulations. It inhibits molds, yeasts and spoilage bacteria under acidic conditions. Approved by global food safety authorities, it is commonly used in beverages, sauces and pickled products. It can also be incorporated in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations.

Main Functions

Preservative: inhibits the growth of molds, yeasts and spoilage bacteria under acidic conditions, preventing food spoilage and extending shelf life.

Applications

1.Food & Beverage: carbonated drinks, fruit juices, sauces, pickled vegetables, jams and syrups. It suppresses microbial growth, prevents fermentation and spoilage, and helps maintain product freshness during storage.

2.Cosmetics & personal care: used as preservative in acidic formulations such as shampoos, body washes and skin care products.

3.Pharmaceutical products: applied as preservative in oral and topical preparations.
