    Odo:  In its pure state, it has a distinctive odor. This odor is somewhat similar to the pungent smell of phenol, yet is distinct due to the presence of the chlorine atom. It is generally described as having a slight medicinal or phenolic odor.


    Melting and Boiling Points: Its melting point ranges from is 62 - 65 °C. When it melts, the water temperature should be above 70 °C.  This means that within this temperature range, solid p - chlorophenol gradually transforms into a liquid state. Its boiling point is around 217 - 219 °C. When this boiling point is reached, liquid p - chlorophenol vaporizes into a gaseous state. These temperature parameters are of great significance for controlling the state of p - chlorophenol during storage, transportation, and use.


    Solubility: p - Chlorophenol has a relatively low solubility in water and is classified as a slightly soluble substance. However, it exhibits good solubility in some organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, and benzene. For example, in ethanol, it can dissolve relatively easily under certain temperature conditions. This property enables it to play a corresponding role in chemical reactions or solution formulations using ethanol as a solvent.

    Preservatives and Bactericides


    p - Chlorophenol (CAS No. 106 - 48 - 9) is widely used in the fields of preservatives and bactericides. It has a remarkable inhibitory and killing effect on microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. In terms of wood preservation, applying p - chlorophenol preparations to the wood surface or allowing the wood to absorb it through soaking can effectively prevent the wood from being eroded by microorganisms like mold and decay - causing fungi, thus extending the service life of the wood.
