Chlorogenic acid is a polyphenolic antioxidant belonging to the hydroxycinnamic acid family. It is widely distributed in plants, but this product is mainly extracted from the bark of Eucommia ulmoides (Latin: Cortex Eucommiae)

In addition to Eucommia ulmoides (Cortex Eucommiae), chlorogenic acid can also be found in:

Green coffee beans
Honeysuckle flowers

However, Eucommia ulmoides bark (Cortex Eucommiae) is one of the most important industrial sources for chlorogenic acid production in China, due to its stable plant resources, high extraction yield and suitability for large-scale botanical ingredient production.

Chlorogenic acid is commonly used in antioxidant supplements, metabolic support formulas, functional food and beverages, and cosmetic antioxidant ingredients.

Character

Chlorogenic acid is a light yellow to yellowish-brown fine powder. It is soluble in water and ethanol, and has characteristic polyphenol properties.
