    1) It can be used to make synthetic ammonia catalysts, silicone resins and rubber curing agents.

    2) It can be used as an energy-saving smoke suppressant and anti-knock agent for fuel. It is often used in various fuels, such as diesel, gasoline, heavy oil, coal, etc. Ferrocene addition ratio: Adding 0.1% ferrocene to automotive diesel can save 10-14% of fuel oil and reduce the smoke density in the exhaust gas by 30-80%. Adding 0.03% ferrocene to methanol can make an artificial liquefied gas with a combustion value of 3372-38656 KJ-KG, while adding 0.3% to heavy oil and 0.2% to coal can reduce fuel consumption and reduce smoke density by 30%. This is mainly because the iron decomposed from ferrocene is deposited on the surface of the spark plug, which enhances its thermal conductivity and makes the burning rate more sufficient.

    3) It can replace the toxic tetraethylene lead in gasoline as an anti-knock agent to prepare high-grade unleaded gasoline to eliminate the pollution of fuel emissions to the environment and the harm to the human body.

    Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) is an important ligand in organic synthesis, and the mechanism of many coupling reactions is based on the formation of its palladium complex.

    3. Materials Science

    The easy sublimation property of this product can be used to deposit certain fullerenes or carbon nanotubes.

    Aldehydes and phosphonium salts undergo a Wittig reaction in the presence of sodium hydroxide to produce vinyl ferrocene. The compound is polymerized to obtain a polymer similar to polystyrene, in which the phenyl group is replaced by a ferrocene group.
