Description	D-Panthenol is the homologue of D-Pantothenic acid, is the precursor of coenzyme A, is an important vitamin drug, into the human body can be converted into pantothenic acid and then synthesized into coenzyme A, to promote the metabolism of human proteins, fats, sugars, to protect the mucous membranes of the surface of the skin and luster, and to prevent the occurrence of diseases, D-Panthenol as a nutrient supplements are widely used in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries, the specific preparations, such as oral solution, eye drops, multivitamin injections, shampoos, mousses, moisturizing creams and so on.

D-Panthenol More Info

Dexpanthenol is a biologically active alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), widely used for its role in supporting epithelial health and wound healing.

Mechanism of Action

Dexpanthenol is enzymatically converted in the body to pantothenic acid, which is an essential precursor of coenzyme A (CoA). CoA is a vital cofactor involved in numerous enzymatic reactions, particularly those related to protein, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism.
Through CoA, dexpanthenol supports cellular energy production and synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol, and acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is crucial for parasympathetic nervous system function, including intestinal motility.
Topically, dexpanthenol promotes fibroblast proliferation and accelerates re-epithelialization, enhancing wound healing and skin regeneration. It also acts as a moisturizer and has anti-inflammatory properties, protecting and repairing the skin barrier.
By maintaining acetylcholine levels, dexpanthenol helps prevent intestinal atony and paralytic ileus post-surgery by supporting normal intestinal peristalsis.

Applications

Topical Dermatology: Treatment and prevention of dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin; minor wounds; burns; radiation-induced skin damage; diaper rash; and mild eczemas. It relieves itching and promotes skin healing.
Postoperative Care: Used prophylactically after major abdominal surgery to minimize paralytic ileus and intestinal atony.
Nutritional Supplement: Prevents vitamin B5 deficiency, especially in patients on total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
Ophthalmology: Included in some ophthalmic preparations for eye surface protection and healing.

Routes of Administration

Topical: Creams, ointments, lotions applied directly to affected skin areas for moisturizing, healing, and protective effects.
Oral: As a supplement or component of multivitamin preparations to prevent or treat pantothenic acid deficiency.
