Upadacitinib, a second JAK inhibitor developed by AbbVie, is described as a second generation inhibitor. The multi-dose Phase I study was completed in 2013. In the Phase I trial, Upadacitinib was found to be safe and well tolerated using immediate release formulations up to a multiple dose of 24 mg twice daily.Upadacitinib exposure was dose proportional in the multiple doses evaluated.

Side Effects

Upatinib can cause rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. The drug can also cause upper respiratory tract infections, shingles, herpes simplex, bronchitis, nausea, cough, fever, and acne. Even its also causes atopic dermatitis, elevated blood creatine phosphokinase, cough, allergy, folliculitis, nausea, abdominal pain, fever, weight gain, herpes zoster, influenza, fatigue, neutropenia, myalgia, and flu-like illness.
