• Physical Properties 

  • Appearance: Colorless cubic crystals or white powder. When exposed to air, it gradually loses ammonia and turns into ammonium bicarbonate.
  • Odor: Has an ammonia - like odor.

  • Solubility: Highly soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. Slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in acetone and diethyl ether.
  • Melting Point: No fixed melting point under normal pressure. Decomposes into ammonia, carbon dioxide and water when the temperature exceeds 58℃.

  • A white or colorless, semi-transparent hard block or powder composed of ammonium bicarbonate and hydroxylammonium carbamate. It has a pungent ammonium smell and gradually turns into ammonium bicarbonate when exposed to the air. Heat to 550℃ to decompose ammonium and carbon dioxide. It is soluble in water but decomposes in hot water. It is insoluble in concentrated ammonia water and ethanol.
