      Product Detail

Thalidomide is a synthetic derivative of glutamic acid, commonly known as Reaction Stop, Thalidomide, Phthalidomide, Phthalidomide, Phthalidomide, Phthalidomide, or Phthalidomide. It is a white crystalline powder at room temperature, odorless, tasteless, slightly soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, or acetone, easily soluble in dimethylformamide or pyridine, and insoluble in ether, chloroform, or benzene. In the 1950s, this drug was developed by Germany mainly for the treatment of epilepsy, but due to its lack of effectiveness, it was subsequently used as a sleep aid and widely used during pregnancy to stop vomiting in pregnant women. In the early 1960s, there were numerous reports of infant deformities caused by thalidomide, such as short limb deformities, long bone defects, ear loss, cleft lip, heart and gastrointestinal malformations, which led to its prohibition and withdrawal from the pharmaceutical market in many countries. However, scientists did not completely reject thalidomide and continued to conduct in-depth research on it, especially in the pharmacology of immunity, anti-inflammatory, anti angiogenesis, and clinical treatment of some difficult diseases, which achieved gratifying and encouraging results, thus giving people a new understanding of thalidomide. Since the 1970s, with the progress of research on leprosy, rheumatism, and various types of malignant tumors, Israeli dermatology has used thalidomide as a sedative for patients with leprosy nodules and erythema, and symptoms have rapidly improved. In the future, many patients with leprosy nodular erythema have achieved good therapeutic effects. In 1998, the US FDA approved thalidomide for the treatment of leprosy nodular erythema. At the 2004 American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, RaJkumar from Mayo Clinic reported the results of two studies on the first-line treatment of multiple myeloma with lenalidomide and its analogues. Both lenalidomide and lenalidomide were effective in treating multiple myeloma, with lenalidomide showing better efficacy than lenalidomide. In May 2006, the US FDA approved its use for the treatment of multiple myeloma. According to reports from foreign scholars, seven patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were ineffective in multiple anti-inflammatory drugs and immunosuppression were treated with thalidomide. The results were mostly relieved within a few weeks, with doses ranging from 400 to 600mg/d. All patients' erythrocyte sedimentation rate and rheumatoid factor titers normalized or significantly decreased, and one patient's rheumatoid nodule disappeared at 12 weeks. Seven patients with refractory rheumatoid arthritis were treated with a combination of thalidomide and methotrexate. Among the five patients who persisted in treatment, four showed improvement in joint tenderness and reduction in joint swelling within 3 to 9 months. The diseases that can be treated with thalidomide are as follows: 1. Behcet's disease. 2. Systemic lupus erythematosus. 3. Rheumatoid arthritis. 4. Nodular erythema and Crohn's disease. 5. Scleroderma: Within 12 weeks after the start of treatment, there can be significant improvement in symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, healing of duodenal ulcers, and hypopigmentation. 6. Adult Still's disease. 7. Refractory ankylosing spondylitis and multiple myeloma (MM). In clinical practice, the treatment of rheumatism starts with a small dose of 25-50mg/day per night, gradually increasing to 100-200mg/day, with a maximum dose not exceeding 400mg/day.
