      Product Detail

99.6% maleic anhydride (MA) with CAS number 108-31-6 is a core cyclic anhydride industrial intermediate specially customized for unsaturated polyester resin manufacturing, refined via continuous n-butane catalytic oxidation and multi-stage recrystallization purification technology. This high-activity raw material has become the mandatory foundational monomer for global composite material factories, coating workshops and fine chemical synthesis plants, occupying an irreplaceable position in UPR production chain.
Physically, the product presents neat white flaky or compact briquette crystals with obvious irritating sour odor. It features strong sublimation performance when heated above 60℃, dissolves rapidly in water to form maleic acid solution, and mixes freely with ethanol, acetone and other organic solvents. Its melting point stabilizes at 52.8℃, with low melting chroma index, which effectively avoids yellowing, turbidity and color deviation defects during high-temperature polycondensation of unsaturated resin.
The core value of maleic anhydride in unsaturated polyester resin production lies in its unique carbon-carbon double bond and anhydride functional groups. During esterification reaction with ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and other diols, MA introduces evenly distributed unsaturated active double bonds into polyester molecular chains. When mixed with styrene monomer and curing initiator, these double bonds trigger free radical cross-linking reaction to form rigid three-dimensional network structure, greatly improving finished resin’s tensile strength, bending resistance, heat deformation temperature and anti-corrosion performance. Our 99.6% resin-special grade strictly controls iron, ash and free acid impurities to ultra-low levels; excess trace metal impurities will suppress free radical activity, slow down resin curing speed and reduce finished product gloss, while our low-impurity MA guarantees stable curing cycle and consistent mechanical properties for mass continuous resin production.
Except for composite unsaturated resin, MA also supports multiple downstream industrial production lines. In coating manufacturing, it reacts with polyhydric alcohols to synthesize high-gloss alkyd resin for furniture paint and anti-rust industrial primer. In fine chemical factories, MA is the primary starting material to produce fumaric acid, malic acid, oil field scale inhibitors and lubricant viscosity modifiers. For papermaking enterprises, MA is used to prepare alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing agent, significantly lifting paper surface flatness and water repellency. It also serves as key intermediate for pesticide herbicide and plastic graft compatibilizer synthesis to enhance plastic alloy interfacial compatibility.
    • Purity ≥99.6%, low iron, ash and free acid impurities, stable esterification reaction performance for resin production
    • High unsaturation activity, sufficient double bond content, uniform cross-linking effect to enhance resin tensile strength & heat resistance
    • Low melting chroma, no yellowing after high-temperature polymerization, ensures transparent and bright resin finished products
    • Standard briquette packaging prevents deliquescence and caking during long-distance sea transportation
    • Strict n-butane oxidation production line, consistent batch indicators, complete COA, MSDS and dangerous goods documents
    • Targeted formula for UPR manufacturers, less by-product generation, lower production loss rate
    • Flexible supply: 25kg woven bag bulk orders and small trial samples with stable spot stock
