    Key Highlights

    • HIGH TRANSPARENCY AND COLOR STRENGTH: Anthraquinone chromophore delivers a clean, bright blue shade violet with high transparency in mass coloration, well suited to transparent plastic articles and metallic effect finishes.
    • STRONG HEAT RESISTANCE: Performs reliably under the high processing temperatures used for rigid plastics such as polystyrene and ABS, with good resistance to migration during molding and extrusion.
    • GOOD FASTNESS BALANCE: Good light fastness and weathering behaviour help the violet shade stay stable in finished goods during service life.
    • BROAD SOLVENT COMPATIBILITY: Dissolves in acetone, toluene, xylene, chlorobenzene and DMF, so it is easy to formulate into liquid colorants, printing inks and coating systems.
    • CONSISTENT BATCH QUALITY: Every shipment is released with a certificate of analysis covering assay and shade, so incoming inspection and color matching stay predictable.
    • FLEXIBLE ORDER QUANTITY: Minimum order quantity of 1 kg allows small trial orders before moving to full bulk volumes packed in 25 kg drums.

    • TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION: Technical data sheet and application guidance are available from Dideu to support formulation development and shade adjustment.

    Product Description

Solvent Violet 13 (CAS 81-48-1, CI 60725) is a synthetic anthraquinone derivative produced by condensation of 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone with p-toluidine. Chemically it is 1-hydroxy-4-((4-methylphenyl)amino)anthracene-9,10-dione, molecular formula C21H15NO3 and molecular weight 329.35 g/mol. The commercial product is a violet black powder with a melting point of 142-143 C that shows a bright blue shade violet tone when dissolved or dispersed in a polymer matrix.

As a solvent soluble dye it is insoluble in water but dissolves in acetone, toluene, benzene, chlorobenzene, xylene and dimethylformamide. This solubility profile, combined with its heat resistance and migration resistance, is the reason it is widely used for coloring rigid and transparent plastics, for mass coloration of polyester fiber and for preparing polyester masterbatch. It also finds use in solvent based printing inks, industrial coatings and wood finishing systems where a transparent violet shade is required, and it is employed in analytical work as a photometric reagent for the determination of boron as well as in optical research formulations.

Dideu Group supplies Solvent Violet 13 at an assay of not less than 99.0% by HPLC, packed in 25 kg fiber drums or 25 kg carton drums with inner liners, and in 1 kg packs for smaller orders. The minimum order quantity is 1 kg, and orders are prepared for dispatch within 2 weeks after confirmation, shipped by air or by sea. Each batch is accompanied by a certificate of analysis, and a technical data sheet is available on request. Our team can advise on dosage and shade adjustment for plastic, ink and coating applications.

    Applications

Plastics and Polymers. Used for coloring polystyrene, ABS and other rigid plastics, especially where transparency and a clean blue shade violet are required. It is applied in injection molded parts, extruded profiles, household and office plastic goods, and in transparent packaging components.

Synthetic Fibers and Masterbatch. Applied in the mass coloration of polyester fiber and in the production of polyester color masterbatch, giving even shade development and good fastness in the finished filament and fabric.

Printing Inks. A violet shade component for solvent based printing inks, including decorative, packaging and specialty inks, valued for its solubility in aromatic and ketonic media and for its resistance to migration.

Paints, Coatings and Wood Finishes. Used in industrial and decorative coating systems, wood stains and lacquers where a transparent violet tone is needed, and in combination with other solvent dyes to build custom shades.

Analytical and Research Applications. Employed as a sensitive photometric reagent for the determination of boron, and used in optical research work such as dye doped liquid crystal and light filtering systems.
