Germanium chloride Use and Manufacturing
In the germanium dioxide hydrochloric acid method, germanium dioxide is added to a reactor with a reflux condenser, and hydrochloric acid is added dropwise while heating to carry out a reaction to generate germanium tetrachloride liquid. Through rectification and condensation, the finished product of germanium tetrachloride is prepared. In its GeO2+4HCl→GeCl4+2H2O synthesis method, metal germanium is added to the reactor and chlorine gas is passed through to chlorination reaction at 250°C to produce germanium tetrachloride, which is cooled to -20°C, and rectified and condensed. Finished germanium chloride. Its Ge+2C12→GeCl4
Used in the microwave preparation of Ge2Cl6, a colorless crystalline material which was included in a further study of low-valent germanium compounds.1
Doping agent in the core of a silica glass optical fiber to increase the refraction index for data transmission.
