Description
Crude, yellow to red liquid. A mixture of materials from wood distillation. Crude product contains methanol, acetic acid, acetone, furfural, and various tars and related products Miscible with water and alcohol. Pyroligneous acid is a smoke-flavoring solution. It is also referred to as liquid smoke, char-smoke flavor, wood vinegar and pyroligneous acid extract. Pyroligneous acid has a distinctive odor, an acrid smoky smell. For a detailed description of this flavoring solution, refer to Burdoc

Pyroligneous acids Use and Manufacturing
The crude wood vinegar (pyroxamic acid) is obtained by dry distillation from wood. It is loaded into a wooden barrel and placed in a water tank, which is gradually divided into three layers: tar precipitation, wood vinegar and wood tar, and then separated, and the middle layer of wood vinegar is added to Refined by distillation. There are also those who further concentrate, crystallize and separate to make crystalline products.
Largely for smoking meats.
