Description

Phytohemagglutinin (PHA) is a lectin, obtained from the red kidney bean that binds to the membranes of T-cells, stimulates metabolic activity, cell division, and involves inflammatory pathways. Phytohemagglutinin (PHA) induces apoptosis via increasing proapoptotic protein Bax and activating caspases-3[1][2][3].

Phytohemagglutinins Use and Manufacturing

PHA is a mitogen. In vitro, it can stimulate the transformation of small lymphocytes into immunologically active lymphocytes and promote their division. The transformed lymphocytes can secrete various lymphokines. 1. The transformation effect of PHA on peripheral blood lymphocytes. Peripheral blood lymphocytes are cultured with PHA in vitro to transform small lymphocytes into lymphoblasts. 2. PHA stimulates lymphocyte mitosis. 3. PHA can enhance the rosette rate of lymphocytes and can be used to judge the body~"s cellular immune function. 4. PHA can promote the phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophages. 5. PHA can induce the production of cell migration inhibitory factors. 6. PHA can be used to study the Asia-Pacific group of lymphocytes.
