Krill oil, astaxanthin and hyaluronic acid combine to protect cartilage

ECHEMI 2020-05-11

According to a new Korean study published in the journal Nutrition, nutritional supplement company Valensa International's krill oil, astaxanthin and hyaluronic acid combination FlexPro MD helps overcome joint degradation. This study evaluated its response to osteoarthritis-induced disorders in mice. This research was sponsored by Valensa's partner Novarex and revealed the new potential of the formula in protecting cartilage.

This research confirms the scientific basis of the patented formula, which contains Valensa's Zanthin natural astaxanthin, a hyaluronic acid of a specific molecular weight, and krill oil, which provides important fatty acids.

The study is based on previous human clinical studies using animal osteoarthritis pain models. Previous studies have shown that FlexPro MD is three to five times more effective than standard commercial glucosamine and chondroitin in relieving joint discomfort. In this new study, the researchers found that animals treated with FlexPro MD were less affected by osteoarthritis-induced diseases, including pain relief and inflammation. Unexpectedly, scientists have discovered that FlexPro MD has the potential to protect cartilage. This potential has not been evaluated for this joint health formula.

The research summary stated that osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease and there is no cure. Medical treatment can relieve symptoms, but it cannot suppress the development of the disease, and may bring side effects. Therefore, many patients seek other ways including dietary supplements to improve symptoms.

Research results show that FlexPro MD is a potential dietary supplement that can reduce pain, minimize cartilage damage and improve the functional status of osteoarthritis. In addition, FlexPro MD does not have the disadvantages of other dietary supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, as well as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
