IHARA launches insecticide TERMINUS (Difenamidine + beta-cyhalothrin) in Brazil

IHARA recently announced the launch in Brazil of TERMINUS(diamidine + beta-cyhalothrin), a insecticide for the control of bedbugs in soybean and corn crops, Euschistus heros and Dichelops Melacanthus, which are major hazards to the production of these crops.

TERMINUS is a dispersible oil suspension (OD) with an innovative formulation that optimizes the active ingredient for a stronger impact and residual effect on the market. OD technology enhances the protection ability and adhesion to crop leaves, provides better drop protection from weather, accelerates the rate of insecticide invasion into plants, and has better control effect on these pests.

Studies have shown that just four bedbugs per square meter can reduce soybean production by 60 kilograms per hectare. At the same time, the quality of crop products will be reduced, because pest damage will reduce crop yields and indirectly affect market value. In corn, the damage is even worse because the pests suck on the stalks of young corn plants, making it difficult for the plants to grow properly or even to pull ears. As a result, bedbugs can cause yield losses of up to 30 percent if not controlled with pesticides.

In addition to the fact that bedbugs multiply with each harvest, another problem is that the pests are developing resistance to the active substances on the market, which in turn are becoming less effective at preventing them. According to the survey, in order to cope with the increasingly difficult problem of pest control, farmers are increasing the amount of pesticides applied year by year, and the amount of pesticides applied is also increasing. Since a few years ago, soybean crops have needed to be protected from bedbugs in addition to fungicides. Today, some areas have had as many as three bedbug controls in summer crops.
