Global food additives market: glutamine, MCC, vitamin E...
According to a report by the United States e-commerce platform IngredientsOnline, China's raw material exports are increasing in June, but it still faces the problem of shortage of shipping space. This is because the lack of labor in US ports makes it difficult for exporters to order enough containers on the returning cargo ship. However, with the restart of the US states, the situation will be eased.
The situation in India is different. The country's blockade measures have been extended to June 30, most of the factories are still closed, and the transportation schedule is still not guaranteed.
From the US side, raw materials related to supporting the immune system and controlling emotions remain popular. Demand for fitness materials is weak, but as states restart, demand in this segment is expected to pick up.
The following is the supply and demand status and forecast of about 20 nutrition fortifiers (food additives).
L-Glutamine
The price is at the lowest level in history, and the major factories are reluctant to fight the price war further, preferring to change the production line to manufacture other products or stop production for summer maintenance. In the US market, prices are expected to weaken and be underestimated.
L-isoleucine/L-valine
The market demand for the two raw materials is not very strong, so the major manufacturers currently reserve some inventory and have already transferred to production. Both prices should remain stable, and demand will remain stable or weaken in the next two months.
L-Leucine
Prices are declining and the hydrolysis grade is falling faster than the fermentation grade. Instant leucine and various instant branched chain amino acids will also be reduced in price.
L-lysine hydrochloride/L-threonine
The supply of these two amino acids has been in short supply since February. We are currently seeing that China’s exports to the United States are increasing, so the supply will gradually loosen from June and competition will increase in July.
L-phenylalanine/L-theanine
Price and supply are stable.
Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC)
Price and supply are stable. Stocks exported to the US market have been prepared in advance.
Luo Han Guo
The supply of 25% and 50% Luo Han Guo is stable. Organic-level harvests have declined this year, and prices and supplies should be tight starting in June.
Dimethyl sulfone
At present, the supply of starting materials is stable, but the cost has increased slightly, and the price of dimethyl sulfone has strengthened.
N-acetyl-L-cysteine/ N-acetyl-L-tyrosine
The major factories are struggling to meet the needs of the European market, so the volume of exports to the United States has been significantly reduced than before, resulting in skyrocketing prices. However, production is expected to increase slightly in the next two months, and the tightening in the US market will ease.
Natural anhydrous caffeine
Due to the epidemic in India, the price of natural anhydrous caffeine has increased and the supply has been interrupted. It is recommended to keep inventory and place orders in advance.
Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate
Supply and prices are stable. As India extends the blockade of the epidemic, supply may be slightly affected.
Isolated Soy Protein
Because of the epidemic, soybean prices have risen, which in turn has caused soybean protein prices to rise. The supply of soybean protein isolate is tight, but the degree is controlled to meet the supply.
Spirulina powder
Harvesting is in progress and prices have been adjusted, a slight decline from the past. Most plants have increased organic-level production capacity, and the cost per kilogram can be reduced by 0.50-1.00 US dollars. As of now, the price is stable, but we need to pay attention to how much market demand changes will be caused by the evolution of the epidemic and consumers' awareness of the effectiveness of Spirulina to enhance the immune system.
Taurine
Taurine manufacturers lowered their prices. The epidemic epidemic's output from major manufacturers in Wuhan is increasing and can meet demand. The decrease in the cost of taurine starting materials has led to a decline in taurine prices.
Vitamin A&D
Because of the epidemic, manufacturers in China and other countries have restricted production. Market demand is still very strong, but the supply is insufficient, and some manufacturers have stopped quoting until further notice.
Thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1 hydrochloride)/thiamine nitrate (vitamin B1 nitrate)
Prices have remained high from February to April, but have stabilized since May. Supply has returned to normal.
Vitamin B2/B6
Price and supply are stable.
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin)
The market is currently in a downturn, and the epidemic has had a significant impact on prices. The supply from major manufacturers is stable, and will remain so in the coming months.
Vitamin E (synthetic)
Production fell slightly, but demand rose slightly. Prices have risen to a certain extent, but not by much.
