BASF's innovative polyurethane synthetic leather solution Haptex® has now obtained the ECO PASSPORT certification issued by the International Environmental Textile Association (OEKO-TEX®)
As BASF's first solvent-free polyurethane solution, Haptex® has now obtained ECO PASSPORT certification from the International Environmental Textile Association (OEKO-TEX®). ECO PASSPORT is an independent certification system developed by the International Environmental Textile Association for chemical management in the clothing, textile and leather industries. ECO PASSPORT uses a multi-stage process to analyze whether each component in a chemical product meets international legal requirements and whether it is harmful to human health. The International Environmental Textile Association will also conduct on-site investigations to verify whether suppliers use safer and higher-quality chemical products in accordance with industry best practices.
Andy Postlethwaite, Senior Vice President of BASF Performance Materials, Asia Pacific, said: "This time, our partnership with the ZDHC Foundation demonstrates BASF's leadership in promoting the sustainable development of chemical and leather manufacturing. Through this In this cooperation, we will work with partners from the textile, leather and footwear industries to formulate and implement relevant industry standards, reduce the chemical footprint of the industry value chain, and protect the global environment. In addition, we are very pleased that BASF’s Haptex® complies with the ZDHC Foundation" “Roadmap to Zero” is the highest standard of the “ZDHC Production Restricted Substance List” (ZDHC MRSL) Level 3 standard.”
Reaching the ZDHC MRSL list standard indicates that the chemical substance certified by ECO PASSPORT meets the ZDHC standard. The list includes chemical substances restricted or prohibited in the production of clothing and footwear materials to protect workers, consumers and the environment.
